What I Love Most About January

The January Blues are a real thing, no doubt about it. It’s cold, wet and the month seems to last forever.

But that’s OK, because there are also good things about this month too – and I don’t just mean the whole cheesy fact that it’s the New Year and a ‘fresh start’.

For me, January is great because it marks the anniversary of me and Liam first getting together – 5 years to the day today, folks! (EDIT: Guess who forgot our anniversary is actually on 25th January, yup me…) I can be reflective and nostalgic for when we first started dating. Fun fact: Our first date we stayed in and watched Taken and This Is Spinal Tap.

To celebrate our anniversary this year we went for an Indian meal on Saturday, and today we are gift giving (see earlier edit…but yes, we still exchanged gifts today!)!

But anyway, enough of the sop. January is also awesome because of the sales. Call me materialistic, if you like. I think over the years I’ve actually bought most of my clothes in January. This year I’ve not bought quite so much, but my billy-bargain of the month was a £6 dress from New Look.

I’m not that big on fashion, but this time of year is also my favourite because I get to wear big chunky jumpers and huge scarves to stay cosy. Sure, we get that in December too (although wasn’t last month crazy mild?!), but January is when it gets really bitter out which makes me feel all the happier being wrapped up warm.

You’re going to hate me for my next reason to love this month…yep, the Easter chocolate. I know it’s completely mad for shops to be stocking it, but I adore Mini Eggs, so I’m on both sides really.

I did also love Creme Eggs, but it makes me sad that they’ve changed the recipe. I haven’t tried it yet, and it may taste exactly the same but it’s the principle of Cadbury no longer being British, y’know? Boo. Read more about this here.

So tell me, what do you love about January?

Great post 🙂 Totally agree about the sales and wrapping up warm! I've spent far too much money on lovely scarves this winter. My favourite thing about January is our Fake Christmas tradition which you've already commented on! x

Thankyou! Yep, 5 years since you helped us get together hah 🙂 I am not even going to try Creme Eggs this year, I'll be too disappointed if they don't taste the same x

Aw congrats on your anniversary – don't worry about the date, our second wedding anniversary completely passed us by and we totally forgot about it lol!

    Happy anniversary! 😀

January is not great for me as I'm recovering from the flu and it's kicked off the worse CFS episode in over 5 years, but at least I'm getting to sleep lots and binge watch loads of my fave crime shows. xx

5 years?! Woohoo! Happy Anniversary to the both of you.

This January seems to of gone scarily fast for my liking. I don't really know what I like about the month, but I don't really dislike it per-say…

Happy Anniversary!! 5 years how exciting! 🙂 I found that January has sped past, I guess I've just finished exams so that kept me busy until now 🙂 I can't wait for Easter chocolate! I hope the eggs still taste the same 🙂 xx

Thanks love! 🙂 Yeah 5 years is pretty exciting/scary ha! Yeah, I can't believe the first month of 2015 is so nearly over! Best of luck in your exams. I am trying to avoid the easter chocolate as best I can but can see me giving in soon enough! xx
