The End Of The British Summer

end of summer

Well, like it or loathe it guys, we’ve now officially reached the end of the British Summer.

Sure, it means we get an extra hour in bed (did you make the most of yours this morning?) and we have some lighter mornings to look forward to, but the evenings get darker and colder as we lull into Autumn and brace ourselves for Winter.

How has your summertime been? I think here in the UK we’ve had our usual mixed bag of weather, but we did have some very warm temperatures a few months back, which we naturally completely forget about and groan that we never get a “real” summer over here.

I for one am looking forward to Autumn. I wrote a bit about why here, relishing in the thought of cosy knitwear and excuses to stay in the warm. However, as with many other people, I do have this sense of sadness about the change in weather. Seasons adjusting, and the year ending is often a bit of a downer for people like me who are not the greatest fan of change.

It often makes me feel quite reflective, and this year has not been the greatest, but I am doing my best to stay positive for the new year. I am not one of those “new year, new me” types (here’s why), but I think it’s important to do your best to have a positive outlook on the future. I may not be exactly where I want to be right now, but nothing in life is permanent.

I am hoping with the darker evenings and excuses to stay indoors I’ll have more time for the blog and plan some awesome content for you guys moving forward. I have been stuck in a bit of a rut recently but I’m sure it’ll pass!

How do you feel about summer ending, did you make the most of it?

I wish I'd made more of the Summer, as I was looking for work throughout it so I think because I was focused on finding a job it flew by me, and then I couldn't believe it when September rolled around! Time flies for me at the moment. We got some really nice, hot days here in the Lake District but now it's definitely autumnal weather here; lots of rain and chilly, crisp mornings, but I am excited for warm, cosy evenings now, just like you! – Tasha

Aw, that's a shame! Still, maybe next summer will feel more…summery! The year has gone stupidly quick…it seems mad that in just over a week it will be November! I bet the Lake District gets super chilly at this time of the year, but must be beautiful with the leaves changing 🙂 x
