So, I’m going to try starting this post at midnight on a Friday night. I’m full of Chinese food and Liam is playing Crash Bandicoot in the background which I feel like might not be the ideal setting for writing a blog post but let’s see how it goes, shall we?
I’ve been pretty darn fortunate recently that on the most part, I’m feeling like the best version of myself and so the timing of writing a post about picking yourself back up when you feel down might be ever so slightly off? But I’m also thinking that writing this sort of thing when things are a-OK is going to be a good resource for when they aren’t quite so a-OK.
Turns out that when you start writing at midnight you basically have a conversation with yourself to justify writing a post. Who knew?
When you’re feeling less than your usual self, you probably need to take a break tbh.
Forgive yourself for needing time to relax because everyone does. Take stock of how you’re feeling and why you might be feeling it. That helps put things into perspective for me and is usually the driver to pick myself right back up and push forwards!
Maybe it’s just me, but I often feel a bit low if I haven’t had time to be creative.
If I’m too tired to blog after a busy day at work, it’s easy to end up frustrated that you aren’t feeling creative. Instead of getting pissed off at the lack of energy to do creative things, take the time to check out other creatives work.
I’ve recently started listening to more podcasts which have been a really good way of absorbing inspiring content on my drive into work and they have really motivated me.
As cheesy as the saying goes, things will get better.
I find a good way to remind myself of that is to look back at the good times. Photographs on Facebook from days (or nights!) out, old texts or Whatsapp messages and all that good stuff that serves as a great reminder that life does in fact have the capacity to be awesome sometimes.
Had an unproductive day of slobbing about? We’ve all been there. I’ve been there a lot.
Consider it a day for some rest and recuperation and tackle tomorrow with enthusiasm. Enjoy your slob day by binging a Netflix show or scrolling endlessly through Twitter or Instagram…you’ll soon get it out of your system and be ready to boss the world again.
