Monthly Favourites : October 2016

monthly favourites october 2016

Happy Hallowe’en! I hope you all have some spooktacular plans, or in my case spent the weekend doing something seasonally appropriate (I went to Tulley’s Farm Shocktober Fest…but more on that a bit later!).

You may have noticed I’ve been taking a bit of a break from blogging (and Twitter, to a degree…) – there’s a bit of an explanation why *here*, but basically I haven’t felt like blogging and I wanted to take a step back from it. I don’t want to give up on this here blog, but I want to truly miss blogging. I’m getting there (faster than I expected, to be fair), but we also have a lot going on in the next couple of weeks that will probably keep me from planning what to post here moving forwards.

But anyway, here’s my favourite things from this month for the time being!

working: my first event. I mentioned this in my recent ‘catching up’ post, but it deserves an honorable mention in a monthly roundup as it is a great feeling when you’re satisfied with your job. It’s all going really well and I’m getting the chance to ‘own’ my role rather than have it all dictated which is awesome.

watching: taskmaster. Have you seen it? It’s hilarious. It’s hosted by Greg Davies and each season has a group of comedians on as contestants who have to perform tasks. Seriously, go find it and catch up. We’re now up to date and just waiting for new episodes now!

also watching: the walking dead. After the longest 6 and a bit months, The Walking Dead returned to finally reveal who was going to die. I won’t post any spoilers, but OMG I CAN’T EVEN. It was such harrowing TV. If you are all caught up and want to hear my spoiler-filled views on the episode, you can see my reaction/review video *here*.

wearing: my winter coat! It’s officially cold enough to wear a winter coat without suffocating. Well, on most days it is. October has thrown in a few unseasonably mild days to keep us on our toes. I always love wrapping up against the elements so I am hoping the chillier temperatures are more consistent going into November! Especially seeing as it hasn’t really felt cold enough to justify a hot chocolate with all the trimmings just yet.

reading: a few comics. I’ve been attempting to play catch up with my pile of comics this month, and although I have blasted through my single issues, I still have a lot of trade paperbacks waiting to be read. Since I haven’t been blogging so much you’d think I’d have spent less time staring at a screen and more time reading but nope. Not at all.

going to the cinema to see: my scientology movie and doctor strange. Yesterday we saw Doctor Strange which was…OK… pretty much what you expect from a Marvel film, and My Scientology Movie was just OK too, really. It’s not been the best month for new movies but I’ve enjoyed going to see stuff with Liam and analysing it afterwards over a GBK.

staying at home to see: sing street, sisters, green room, the bird cage, tales of halloween and the final girls. Phew, we watched quite a few films at home in October. Highlights were definitely Sing Street, and The Bird Cage (I had a little cry because I still miss Robin Williams so much). The worst of the bunch for me was probably Tales of Halloween…I’m just not a big fan of anthology style movies.

ordering: liam a lootcrate. I thought (or was rather persuaded) that I should treat Liam to October’s Loot Crate for putting up with me being stressed and a pain this month. Trust me, he deserved a treat. We were both really impressed with what was included, and I’m very jealous he got a Negan tee shirt! So much so that I have put in a bid to try and get it in a Small on eBay! The look on Liam’s face as he discovered what was inside the box made it worth every penny.

going to: shocktober fest! If you aren’t sure what Shocktober Fest is, it’s basically a ‘scream park’ where there are lots of attractions with live actors scaring the bejesus out of you. I am planning on writing up a separate post about the night but I did really enjoy it!

What’s made your October outrageous?

Shocktober Fest sounds fun! We have something similar near where I live called Frightmare. I’ve always wanted to go but never got the chance to yet. Happy Halloween! x

Shocktober was fab, I’ll be putting together a post on it some time soon! Frightmare looks very similar to Shocktober so you should give it ago! Hope you had a fab Halloween 🙂 x
