Guardians Of The Galaxy

At the weekend, me and Liam took a long awaited trip to the cinema to see Guardians of the Galaxy. We’d been waiting a long time to finally get round to watching it, and we weren’t disappointed!

I do have a tendency to wait a while after a much hyped film comes out so that my expectations aren’t too high. From when the teaser trailer was first released, I knew I was going to enjoy it because of the small amounts of humour and story we saw as the marketing unfolded. On top of that, after some colleagues had seen it they insisted on listening to the awesome soundtrack in the office.

So what made GOTG so enjoyable? Aside from the humour and soundtrack that is. Well, the characters are absolutely ace, and the story was dealt with really well.

With quite a lot of comic book characters to introduce, I was at first concerned I was going to get as confused as I did when I first started watching Game of Thrones, but it was actually pretty easy to follow it all and it has a great mix of wonderful dialogue and action to string the narrative all together.

The trailers prior to the film suggested it was going to be a really ‘kiddie’ movie, but some of the humour and violence is pretty adult – although I’d say the 12A rating is probably spot on.

Unfortunately the movie is now making its way out of the cinema (try catch it if you haven’t already…it’s great on the big screen and you can see it in 3D if you’re into that sort of thing), but will be out on DVD in due course if you want to check it out at home!

Have you seen Guardians of the Galaxy? Let me know your thoughts and favourite character in the comments below! I think my favourite is probably Rocket…although Drax or Groot might be close second!

We saw Guardians the day it came out. Dave and I have both loved all the various incarnations of the comic–from the time Groot could speak in complete if confusing sentences, to the time he was a twig in a pot, and before that when he wasn't on the team. I loved it, and think Chris Pratt should reboot Indiana Jones!

I bet it was a lot of fun seeing it when it just came out! I was worried we were going miss it, and it's definitely the kind of movie you want to see on the big screen!

Chris Pratt could reboot anything and I'd watch it!
