On the way to Brighton my heart sunk slightly – in true British BBQ style, it started to pour down with rain. Whilst this did mean I had the opportunity to see a rainbow bending over the top of Brighton station as my train pulled in (how apt), it did concern me given that we had hoped for sunnier climates.
Anyway, I met up with Kathy, Amy and Hazel at the station so we could all be blogger buddies before meeting the larger group who had all congregated around the back of the station ready to embark on our journey in The Big Lemon, an antiquated yellow bus which just about made it up the steep hills to Woodingdean. On the way, we were told by Erica that we were heading to an Air BNB house, with a lush garden and food aplenty. We were definitely not let down!
As we arrived and descended some slippery steps, we were greeted by two chefs cooking up lots of grub under a gazebo, complimented by the sound of a local jazz band playing in the lounge. As we stepped inside, we were instantly presented with Pimms (which let’s be honest, is the perfect way to be greeted).
Free-flowing Pimms is always a bit dangerous for me. Me and Kathy were both definitely making the most of the opportunity to drink up and I’ll admit I did feel a bit worse for wear the next morning…We also took the opportunity to be really nosy and check out the decor of the house. Thumbs up!
Aside from the alcoholic beverages and snooping, we were treated to a plethora of amazing food, from vintage cheddar beef burgers, pulled pork burgers, potato salad and Eton mess for pud. I let the team down by being full up after just one burger, but quite a lot of people went up for seconds – the food really was that delicious. Check out the ASDA BBQ range here.
Above all the amazing food, drink and entertainment, it was really great to catch up with a group of genuinely lovely bloggers. I finally got to put some names to Twitter handles/blogs, and I’m hoping we will all get the chance to see each other soon!
If you came along to the event, please do share the link to your post in the comments as I’d love to see it!
