A New Look, & A New Outlook

Hi guys!

Notice anything different? Cor, you’re not very observant are ya? I’ve got a new logo! I’ve changed some colours! I’ve only gone and changed the ruddy font too, haven’t I?!

You may be wondering why I’ve done those things. Well, I was lucky enough to win a competition over on Twitter recently ran by the lovely Aisling of Pretty Content Co. I never win competitions so was surprised when the notification came through!

The prize was a logo and branding package which involved a few emails back and forth to decide what I did and didn’t want the “brand” to look like, and then Aisling worked her magic to create some concepts for me to choose from. I was drawn towards the logo you see above because it felt very “me” and I basically enjoyed looking at it.

Along with the snazzy new logo in all the formats I need (you receive both print and web-friendly formats), Aisling also produced some brand guidelines including pairing fonts and a colour palette. As soon as I got the email with the final work I was jumping onto WordPress to make the changes!

I really do love the new look, and I hope you do too. The design of my blog is still a bit of work in progress as I’m not sure I’m 100% happy with the structure right now, but it still feels like it has come a long, long way since I first started moreaboutcat in 2013!

So we’ve got the new look out of the way – let’s talk about the new outlook shall we?

love blogging, but I hate not knowing what to blog about. I get unnecessarily frustrated with bloggers block and feel like a shitty blogger for not constantly having fresh ideas to keep to a posting schedule. Sometimes I feel like stepping away from my blog for a long time in the vain hope I’ll come back bursting with motivation and ideas for posts that are going to change the world.

But then I stop and I think again. I think, and I think until I worry. I worry I won’t come back. I’ll be waiting for this sudden outpouring of creativity that never comes.

Then I think some more. I think about how much I enjoy writing posts like this one. Where I open up a new post with a small piece of news or an idea that then turns into a post that means something – to me at least. But maybe it means something to someone else. Maybe you too are feeling the strain of bloggers block?

Then I remember why I do this in the first place. To connect with you, my readers. Fellow bloggers or not (although I think most of you are), these ramblings being thrown out into the blogosphere aren’t just there for me. They are there for you too. That feels good. Especially when you open up a conversation in the comments, or on Twitter around something. That’s what really stops me from walking away.

My new outlook is to remember this, to remember the joy of blogging and the joy of connecting with others. To not fret over a posting schedule of x amount of posts per week, to try and avoid the frustration of words and photographs not quite coming out how I planned them in my head. To just enjoy sharing thoughts, feelings and ideas.

Although I reserve the right to get pissed off at ALL OF THE SHADOWS in flatlays because that shit is annoying.

Yay! It’s looking fab, Cat! I’m glad we got a chance to work together and you were a super great client! 😀

I know how you feel about blogging. I basically quit a few months ago. I’m now planning on removing my archives from the public Internet and setting up a space where I can literally do anything I want and be a bit more creative.

Your blog is great though, and I was very excited when the random generator thingy picked you because you have so much potential!

Woohoo! Love the new look – the logo is ace. That is totally the best outlook to have about blogging too. Don’t force anything, but don’t beat yourself up either. It’s hard, and I think everyone underestimates just how hard blogging is. So take a step back, pat yourself on the back, and then come right back to it! You’ve got this 🙂

I’m new here… *waves* but I love your blogs look. 🙂
Also, totally with you on bloggers blog and all of the other annoying things we do to ourselves, like comparison and trying to keep to schedules!
As long as you enjoy blogging, then blog. It should never be a chore. Paid or not.
    Just do you.
